Privacy policy for Downtrend

Effective date: 11 October 2026

Downtrend is made by Off the Clock Labs (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your phone, what reaches Google, and the choices you have. It covers the Android app (package name com.offtheclock.downtrend) and the website offtheclocklabs.com.

In short

What we collect

Off the Clock Labs does not collect, receive or store personal information from Downtrend. The app has no sign-in, no account and no analytics of ours. We cannot read your data, and we cannot recover it for you if you lose your phone.

What the app keeps on your phone. What you enter:

And two things the app keeps for itself:

The app uses this data to draw your chart, work out your trend and your estimates, and show your progress. It stays in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read. Delete an entry and it is gone. Uninstall the app, or clear its storage in your phone’s settings, and everything it kept on your phone is gone. A copy in Android’s backup can remain in your Google account (see Backups).

The PIN lock. If you set a PIN, the app asks for it before it shows your history. It stops someone holding your phone from reading your history. It does not encrypt your data. If you forget the PIN, the recovery code shown when you set it opens the app. Without either, the only way back in is to erase the app’s data.

Crash reports. If your phone shares usage and diagnostics data with Google, Google may send us a report when the app crashes, through the Google Play Console. It holds details such as the phone model, the Android version and the app version. It does not hold your name, your email address or anything from your weight history. We use it to fix the crash.

What you send us. If you email us, we receive what you write and your email address. A problem report you send from the app adds the app’s version, your phone’s Android version and the errors the app met. We use all of this to answer you, and we keep the exchange for as long as we need to resolve it.

Backups

Android’s backup. If you have turned on backup in your phone’s settings, Android copies the app’s data, including your weight history, to your Google account’s private storage on Google Drive, so that a new phone can restore it. The backup is encrypted, and we have no access to it. Google’s privacy policy applies to it. If you set a PIN, the backup carries the lock with your history, so a restored app asks for the same PIN or recovery code. You can turn this backup off in your phone’s settings.

Your own backups. You can export your data from the app as a backup file or as spreadsheet files, and save or share them. Those files go only where you send them. They do not include your PIN. Anyone who holds a file can read it, so keep it somewhere private.

Permissions

Downtrend uses only the permissions its features need:

The app does not ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or storage. It opens a file only when you pick one, to import or restore it. It does not read Health Connect.

The website

offtheclocklabs.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ads. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes your IP address and the requests your browser makes, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

Children

Downtrend is made for adults. The BMI bands and the body-fat and calorie estimates it shows are for people aged 18 and over. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We hold nothing on our servers to delete. Uninstalling the app removes what it kept on the phone.

Changes

When this policy changes, we publish the new version at this address with a new effective date. If a change affects what the app sends or to whom, the app’s update notes on Google Play say so.
